Sergio García, honorary member

Our honorary member, Sergio Garcia, won at Sanderson Farms, the last tournament on the PGA Tour. The best thing was how he won it. With a single stroke ahead of Peter Malnati, Sergio had 5 birdies and an eagle for a total of 67 strokes. Now, the Spanish player has already won in 3 different decades: 2000’s, 2010’s and 2020’s. Congratulations champion!

Barcelona International Golf Cup

Our member, Victor García Broto, was proclaimed champion of the Barcelona International Golf Cup. The tournament was held at the Club de Golf Barcelona, near the Montserrat mountain. The tournament, valid for the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) as well as scoring for the absolute Grand Prix, Boys / Girl of FCGolf, was played over 54 holes with a total of 90 male and female participants.

Real Club de Golf El Prat

Located near the Sant Llorenç del Munt i L’Obac natural park and just 30 minutes from Barcelona, ​​the Real Club de Golf El Prat has positioned itself as one of the most exclusive golf clubs in Europe.

The 45 holes, designed by the famous architect and golf professional Greg Norman, have hosted several editions of the Spanish Open of the European Tour with the participation of great players such as Sergio García. Club de Golf Terramar

Club de Golf Llavaneras

Another club with views of the Mediterranean Sea is Club de Golf Llavaneras. Just 30 km from the city of Barcelona and 45 km from the Costa Brava, you can enjoy one of the oldest and most exclusive clubs on the Barcelona Coast.

This Club, founded in 1945, was designed by F.W. Hawtree. Later on, the golf course was extended with the design of Ramón Espinosa, Magí Sardà and Alfonso Vidaor. This course, with narrow fairways and small greens, is suitable for both beginners and more experienced players, In addition, players will be able to enjoy their gastronomy on the Club’s beautiful terrace with sea views.

Vallromanes Golf Club

Just 25 km from the city of Barcelona we find the Vallromanes Golf Club designed and built by Mr. FW Hawtree in 1972 and surrounded by nature a

Club de Golf Barcelona

This European-style club is located in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, 27 kilometers from Barcelona.

The course, designed by Jose Mª Olazábal, consists of two very different courses between them: the first, with 18 holes, is varied and very demanding, ideal for competition. The second, 9 holes, is flatter and easier. In addition, it has hosted competitions such as the Catalonia Ladies Masters of 2007 or the National Peugeot Tour.

The most exclusive golf club in Barcelona reopened its doors on Monday, 25 May, after being closed for 10 weeks due to Covid-19.

Over 1700 rounds were played throughout last week. Players respected the safety measures implemented by the Club.

Real Club de Golf El Prat reopened its doors on monday, 25 May, after being closed for 10 weeks due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Throughout last week, over 1700 rounds were played and golfers enjoyed the course, which was in perfect conditions thanks to the maintenance works that continued throughout the time the Club was closed.

The famous Spanish venue golf club has implemented over 70 safety measures in order to protect the health and wellbeing of its members, visitors and staff. This safety protocol has been set up to ensure social distancing and exhaustive cleaning and disinfection of its services (buggies, electric trolleys and clubs). Furthermore, the club has set up disinfection points around the course’s 36 holes, further improved the online booking system so players don’t have to pass through the reception and can go straight to the course, and  has relocated pick-up and drop-off areas for its services, in order to avoid crowding, among many other measures.

Ariana Martín, director of Real Club de Golf El Prat, highlighted “the satisfaction of welcoming players again. The whole Club staff has worked very hard to ensure anyone who comes to the Club will be protected. Thanks to the security protocols designed to ensure social distancing, disinfection and cleaning of all materials, our members and visitors only have to worry about having fun on the golf course.”

The “new Annika Sorenstam” emerged victorious in the last event of the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS) circuit, the Santander Golf Tour LETAS El Prat, at Real Club de Golf El Prat, in Barcelona.

On a course in immaculate condition, 17-year-old Swede Julia Engstrom fired a final round six-under-par 66, for a three-round, three-under-par total of 213, to win by a shot from the host club’s Mireia Prat, whose three-putt on the 17th cost her dearly.

It was rookie Engstrom’s second title on the 2018 LETAS, following her maiden victory at the Viaplay Ladies Finnish Open, in June. She also leads the LET ‘Rookie of the Year’ ranking heading into the final tournament of the 2018 season, the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana, and her recent performances have impressed LETAS Tour director Diane Barnard.

Barnard said: “Julia is an exceptional player. I think we could be seeing the new Annika Sorenstam.”

Engstrom said: “It’s a nice course to play and a great test. It’s tough, but I’m excited about how I played.”

Barcelona-based Prat, who has been attached to Real Club de Golf El Prat, for two years, said: “I am very happy with the round today. It’s the first time I’ve gone around here in four-under par. It was a shame about the bogey at 17, but, overall (I’m) very happy.”

Federico Montllonch, president of the host club, said: “It was a great honour to hold this edition of the Santander Golf Tour, and the LET Access Series. Both the golf and the support has been great.”

This was Real Club de Golf El Prat’s first LETAS event but, with officials and players, offer very complimentary comments about the venue as a whole, it would certainly not be a surprise to see the Tour return again in the future.
